Unismuh Government Studies Program, Benchmarking Visit to the Bulukumba Disparpora Office

UNISMUH.AC.ID, BULUKUMBA – A group of 6 students from the Government Science (IP) Department at Unismuh Makassar, conducting a government benchmarking field study in Bulukumba, visited the Office of the Department of Tourism, Youth and Sports (DISPARPORA) Bulukumba on Wednesday, July 12, 2024.

This was stated by the Field Supervisor, Hamrun, S. IP., M. Si, and Hardianto Hawing, ST., M.A., lecturers from the 2023 Government Benchmarking Program at Unismuh, Makassar, on Thursday, July 13, 2023.

The benchmarking activity at the DISPARPORA office, with the theme, "Partnership Governance in the Development of Coastal Tourism Destinations: Analysis of Cooperation between Government, Private Sector, and Local Communities," was explained.

During their visit to DISPARPORA, the students were received by Adyatama, Head of Tourism and Creative Economy, and Idiawaty, S.S., M.M. Idiawaty explained that several forms of cooperation between DISPARPORA and private entities, government agencies, and local communities had been implemented.

These include cooperation with PT Jasaraharja, providing insurance for visitors to Tanjung Bira Beach, cooperation with Bank Sulselbar for payment processing, and cooperation with the Department of Trade, providing sales containers.

Collaboration between government, the private sector, and local communities must occur throughout the development process, including planning, implementation, and evaluation stages, he said.

By adopting partnership governance, the development of coastal destinations can be a sustainable model of development.

Through close cooperation between government, the private sector, and local communities, coastal destinations can grow while considering environmental sustainability, providing fair economic benefits, and improving the quality of life for communities.

It was also explained that the Covid-19 pandemic had a significant impact on all tourism industries in Indonesia and worldwide, but this was not the case for Tanjung Bira Beach in Bulukumba.

Although the beach was temporarily closed for several months, this did not affect the number of visitors when it reopened, due to the involvement and cooperation between government, the private sector, and local communities.

The 6th group of students consisted of: A.Ariel Setiadi, Riska Ikbal, Ardian Saputra, Nurzafiqah, Nurhesty Liana, A.Muh.Iqbal DM, Armin, Cindy Fartika Sari, Muh.Arfiansyah Aris, and Cahyani Putri Mondo.

The Government Benchmarking program was attended by 80 students and 15 lecturers from July 11-13, 2023.

The activity was led by the Head and Secretary of the IP Unismuh Program, Ahmad Harakan, SIP, MSi, and the Secretary of the IP Program, Nur Khaerah, SIP, MIP.

Before the field study, the students attended a general lecture by Bulukumba Regent, Andi Muchtar Ali Yusuf, (known as Andi Utta), on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at the Bulukumba Regent's Office.

The topic of the lecture was "Transformation of Coastal Tourism Management Policies Post-Covid-19 in Bulukumba Regency."
