Students from the Law Faculty of HES and Syakhshiyyah Events at Unisman Learn about Court Cases in the Religious Court of Yogyakarta
NEWS.UNISMUH.AC.ID, YOGYAKARTA — Students of the Law of Economic Shariah (HES) and the Ahwal Syakhshiyyah or Family Law Islam Program at the Faculty of Islamic Studies Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar learn the process of judicial administration and legal proof directly in the Yogyakarta Religious Court.
This activity is part of the Practicum Kerja Lapangan (PKL) taking place from August 3 to September 11, 2026. On the first week, students were involved in reviewing administrative documents, organizing case files, and documents used as evidence in civil Islam cases.
In the court's chambers, students learned about the table of contents of the case file, administrative completeness, and authentic documents such as marriage certificates. These documents are crucial pieces of evidence in examining civil marital and family law cases.
The involvement of students from both programs provided different focuses for learning but complemented each other well. Students of Ahwal Syakhshiyyah deepened their handling of civil marital and family law cases, while students of HES learned about economic shariah disputes and contemporary Islamic personal status development.
Abdul Malik, S.H., M.H., the field supervisor, stated that hands-on reviewing of documents helped students understand Sharia court proceedings more comprehensively.
"Practical law is not limited to memorizing articles or theories in class. By holding the case files directly, reviewing the table of contents, and authentic documents such as marriage certificates, HES and Ahwal Syakhshiyyah students learn about the precision of administrative management, Sharia court proceedings, and the importance of evidence validation in trials," Abdul Malik said on August 4, 2026.Ketua Program Studi Hukum Ekonomi Syariah FAI Unismuh Makassar, Dr. Hasanuddin, S.E.Sy., M.E., praised the enthusiasm and camaraderie of students during their PKL in Yogyakarta Religious Court.
"An active and enjoyable learning environment is crucial to prevent students from feeling overwhelmed in a court setting. The collaboration between HES and Ahwal Syakhshiyyah students in managing judicial administration at the Yogyakarta Religious Court is expected to form characters of future lawyers who are meticulous, critical, and professional," said Dr. Hasanuddin.Sustainable Development Goals
